Dr. Benson Bagley
DDS
What is your educational background?
I’ve had the opportunity to attend several incredible educational institutions. I completed my undergraduate degree in human biology at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I was then fortunate to be one of eight students selected by the State of Idaho to be a part of a scholarship program for dental students. As a part of this program, I did my first year of dental school at Idaho State University and then my final three years at Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. Go Bluejays!
Following dental school, I chose to do a one-year residency in general dentistry to build on my foundation from dental school while learning more advanced dental procedures. The residency, completed through New York University-Langone, exposed me to many unique situations and procedures, and I gained valuable experience I feel has made me a more understanding and competent provider.
What are your current areas of interest in dentistry?
Part of what makes dentistry exciting is that the techniques and procedures of dentistry are constantly evolving. I gained experience in placing implants and straightening teeth with clear aligners during my residency, and I currently enjoy learning more and developing my skills in those two areas of dentistry. Honestly though, I enjoy pretty-much every area of dentistry.
What is your goal as a dentist?
My practice philosophy is to educate and inform my patients, give them the options for their treatment, and then let them decide. My goal is to empower patients to understand what is going on with their own teeth and enable them to take control of their dental and oral health.
What can you tell us about your personal life?
In 2015, I married the love of my life Emmeli. We’ve been blessed with two energetic boys–Jackson and Calvin. We also have a mini Australian Shepherd named Opie to help our boys get their energy out. Nowadays my hobbies revolve around spending time with my family, but in my free time I enjoy hiking, board games, watching a good TV show, or really anything outside.
