If your damaged teeth require more attention than a simple filling but don’t need a full crown, Dr. Benson Bagley may recommend dental inlays & onlays. Often referred to as “partial crowns,” dental inlays & onlays are ideal for restoring teeth that are damaged or decayed. These restorations are custom-made from porcelain, composite resin, or gold, and once placed, they blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. Dental inlays & onlays offer a conservative approach to treatment, restoring your teeth’s full strength and function while preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as possible.
During your initial consultation at Rim Point Dental, Dr. Bagley will carefully examine your teeth and discuss whether an inlay or onlay is the right solution for you.
Difference Between Inlays and Onlays
A dental inlay is used when the damage is limited to the area between the cusps (the pointed tips) of the tooth’s chewing surface. In contrast, a dental onlay is utilized when the damage extends to one or more of the cusps.
